Chapter 44

After being teleported back, Lin Mian didn’t see Pei Yuhuai online that evening as he had some matters to attend to.

It wasn’t until noon the next day, when a few strangers arrived in the town, that Pei Yuhuai finally logged in.

Instead of rushing to meet the newcomers, Pei Yuhuai stayed in the villa with Lin Mian, feeding their two pets.

The little black dragon grew very slowly, showing no noticeable changes over several days. It remained small with soft, floppy wings.

In contrast, the mutated piglet underwent significant changes, growing noticeably larger each day, soon doubling its original size.

Normal miniature pigs don’t grow this fast. Clearly, Lin Mian’s piglet wasn’t an ordinary one but a mutated variant.

After feeding the pets, Pei Yuhuai took Lin Mian out of the villa to meet the newcomers. Seeing how much the piglet had grown, Lin Mian decided to bring it along for a walk.

Thus, the trio – two men and a pig – made their way down the town’s streets.

The piglet waddled slowly, its little bottom swaying adorably as it walked.

Curious townsfolk came over to observe the piglet, while others warmly greeted Pei Yuhuai.

A young woman asked, “We haven’t seen much of Mr. Pei recently?”

Pei Yuhuai smiled, “I’ve been busy with some matters lately.”

Indeed, he had been occupied with acquiring a large entertainment company. While partly motivated by Lin Mian’s potential career aspirations, the main reason was his nephew.

His nephew, a rock music enthusiast, had been depressed after a failed competition. Pei Yuhuai’s sister hoped he could start a small company to distract the young man.

Pei Yuhuai saw this as an opportunity – whether Lin Mian entered the entertainment industry or not, having an entertainment company would be useful. If Lin Mian wasn’t interested, he could entrust it to his well-educated nephew.

With Lin Mian now able to teleport to his world, Pei Yuhuai spent less time in the game.

When they met the newcomers, Pei Yuhuai noticed one was a Mutant. Like the previous Nobles, they wanted to settle in the town.

This reminded Pei Yuhuai of an unfinished task: to recruit three Mutants through his personal charm. Accepting this Mutant would complete one-third of the task.

The Mutant had brought along Lower Class People – his family and friends, seeking a safer life in the town. While Lower Class People couldn’t enter the Inner City and the Outer City was dangerous, Scarlet Town offered a better alternative.

Despite his poor reputation in the Inner City, Pei Yuhuai was well-regarded in the Outer City for his kindness towards Lower Class People, setting him apart from many Nobles.

After a brief discussion, Pei Yuhuai decided to let them stay for observation, though some townsfolk were reluctant, feeling they could barely sustain themselves.

However, the decision ultimately rested with Pei Yuhuai and Lin Mian, and Lin Mian usually agreed with Pei Yuhuai’s choices.

After settling the newcomers, Pei Yuhuai completed the day’s time-limited task, which rewarded them with eggs – chicken, duck, and goose eggs.

While the town could grow their own vegetables and grains, they relied on tasks for meat and eggs. Pei Yuhuai inquired about how Inner City Nobles raised livestock, suspecting they hunted Mutated Animals for meat.

As Zombie animals were inedible but Mutated Animals were safe for those who had taken the Gene Serum, this could be a potential solution. However, most townsfolk hadn’t taken the serum, making raising Mutated Animals risky.

Focusing on completing his new task first, Pei Yuhuai spent the next two days recruiting Mutants. With Scarlet Town’s growing reputation, many Mutants were willing to join, allowing him to complete the task quickly.

The reward was an Ability Slot. While Pei Yuhuai wanted to give it to Lin Mian, Lin Mian declined, saying he wouldn’t stay in this world permanently and didn’t want to waste the Ability.

Instead, Lin Mian gave the Ability Slot to a young boy, following Pei Yuhuai’s previous gift to a girl. He simply hoped these children wouldn’t become prey for the Nobles like before.

A new task was triggered during Lin Mian’s third teleportation to Pei Yuhuai’s world. This time, he came to attend an engagement party with Mr. Pei.

The party was scheduled for Saturday evening. Arriving a day early, Pei Yuhuai briefed Lin Mian on the ceremony’s procedures.

Lin Mian removed the two rings Pei Yuhuai had given him in his world – a couple’s ring and an engagement ring. After the party, they would choose their wedding rings together.

“Don’t be nervous tomorrow. It’s just family elders. Since you don’t like grand events, we didn’t invite others or the press,” Pei Yuhuai assured him.

Though limited to family, the guest list was still substantial, including relatives from both Pei Yuhuai’s paternal and maternal sides.

Retiring early that night, even the usually clingy Lin Mian didn’t stay up with Pei Yuhuai, wanting to be well-rested for the big day.

The next morning, their formal attire arrived. After ensuring the fit and style were satisfactory, they headed to the ancestral home where the party would be held.

Upon arrival, Lin Mian noticed several young men who resembled Pei Yuhuai – about four or five of them. Initially casual and joking around, they quickly straightened up upon seeing Pei Yuhuai and Lin Mian, greeting them respectfully.

Pei Yuhuai signaled Lin Mian to distribute the prepared red envelopes. What followed was a comical scene: a group of handsome young heirs queuing up to call Lin Mian “Auntie” and receive their hefty red envelopes filled with gold.

    “Thank you, Auntie,” one said.

Pei Yuhuai corrected, “I told you to call him Uncle Lin.”

A bolder youth replied with a cheeky grin, “But calling him Auntie makes it clear he’s your wife!”
